Utah Trip

For Mark's spring break we decided to visit some of our family in Utah. We had a blast! Tyler kept asking to go back to Utah after we came home. I think we'll have to start making that trip a bit more often!

After Easter, our first stop was BYU. You can't be in Utah without visiting your alma mater. Plus we had to show Tyler and Clara their future stomping grounds. Aside from buying some BYU gear we made our visit official with a bowling game in the Wilk basement. Tyler and Clara's first bowling game ever and they LOVED it!

Tyler, the super competitive type, was pretty serious about his game. He got really into it and would get pretty P.O.'ed when his ball started going off center, missing some pins. But when he had a good round he was ecstatic! Future sporting events should be interesting with this boy.
At first, we didn't include Clara in our game assuming it wouldn't interest her. I should have known better. Clara, never wanting to be left out of anything Tyler does, went right to the balls, found one that suited her, and could barely contain herself until her turn. Needless to say, she played both games.

Unlike Tyler, she just loved playing and clapped for herself, regardless of how many pins fell down.
She also thoroughly enjoyed the hand dryer and gave us a Marilyn Monroe moment. Work it! Work it!

Before we move on, I must document one of the funniest moments ever! At one point, Clara made a break for it and managed to run half way down the lane without anyone noticing. Mark ran after her, but instead of following Clara in between the lanes he tried to run down the waxed floor and fell on his hiney cartoon style. I was laughing so hard I was crying. Even re-remembering it I'm chuckling to myself.  Awww good times!

Ok back to the trip. Our next stop was the Riverside Mall where Mark and Kyle did the ropes course. Tyler was pretty concerned and kept yelling at Mark to get down!

The next day we hit up Temple Square. I kind of had a vision of my kids being overcome with the spirit when they saw this statue and sitting in awe. Alas, that was not quite reality, but Tyler did at least recognize who He was. He was more amazed at His size than anything.

 And at the temple:

We spent a lot of time at parks during our visit to Utah and they have some good ones!

We even stopped by Scheels (basically a giant version of Bass Pro Shop with a ferris wheel inside!)
And a monster truck, well half a monster truck anyway. Tyler was pretty stoked.
Back at Grandma Sheila's Salt Lake House, Mark and Uncle Jordan devised a zip line and rope swing using rock climbing gear. Clara thought it was awesome! Tyler wasn't so sure, but submitted to the experiment anyway.

On the way home we stopped for lunch in Baker and crossed the street to visit the aliens.
