In June we had an amazing camping trip at June Lake, near Yosemite and Mammoth with the Whitings. It started on a Wednesday. We drove to Ridgecrest and spent the night in Scott's dental office! That's something I never thought I would do! Luckily, he has some back rooms that we filled with air mattresses and had a decent night's sleep. Thursday we traveled on to June Lake, where we had no campsite reserved. Amazingly, after trying every other campground in the area we found the perfect spot at the June Lake Campground. We quickly set up camp and drove up to Yosemite for some small hikes and sightseeing. Yosemite is BEAUTIFUL! Next time we're for sure spending more time up there!

We played around on the rocks anyway and saw some deer.
Friday called for some fishing in June Lake. We didn't catch a thing! But that didn't bug the kids. Look at that scenery!
We took a break for lunch and some sightseeing. See that teeny weeny waterfall in the background? We tried to hike to it, but all trails were impassable or private property.
Then back on the boat. Mostly we just let Tyler and Clara drive us around this time. They thought it was pretty cool.
At some point the dads went on a hike without moms and kids so they could go fast and far. They found this old mining cart track.

June Lake Campground had flushable toilets but no showers, so Malarie and I took matters into our own hands! We warmed up water on the stove and washed our hair hanging over the end of the picnic table! Some baby wipes and, voila! All clean...ok not ALL clean, but close enough.
We were dying of laughter the entire time! But it worked!
Just some deer. I can't even begin to count all the deer we saw! At least we didn't see any bears! Our campsite came stocked with a bear locker and the guy next door to us said he'd been coming for years and had always seen at least one bear! Luckily, we did not!
Totally out of the blue, our friends, the Sotos, came to camp with us, getting in late Friday night. We hadn't seen them since they moved over a year ago. It was great having the three families back together again!
Saturday, we drove to Mammoth for some hiking. Here is Clara, Tyler, Ella, Siena, Harlee, and Jack (not pictured: Ezra). All ready to go on a 3 1/2 mile hike to Rainbow Falls.

Finally made it to Rainbow Falls! The kids were such troopers! They walked all the way to the falls and only had to be carried part of the way back.
You can kind of see the rainbow created by the falls, giving it it's name.
On the way back, we stopped here for potty breaks and tried a little fishing. I, sadly, broke Tyler's fishing line after I casted into a tree. But the waterfall is cool!
On Sunday we parted ways and drove home. Here's the whole group: Sotos, Andreasens, and Whitings. What great friends and what a fun trip!

And one more stop on the way home at Convict Lake. We've all decided this trip is becoming an annual tradition. So much fun!
